The Triangle Factory fire was the largest workplace disaster in the US until the 9/11 tragedy. The outrage over the senseless deaths of the young workers sparked social protests that lead to stronger labor legislation, humane workplace regulations, and ultimately New Deal reform. As the 100-year anniversary of the tragedy approaches, efforts to commemorate the fire and what that moment in history represents for all of us are being undertaken across the nation.
