Lower East Side Oral Histories is a compilation of 25 unique interviews conducted by Nina Howes and edited by Lower East Side History Project's Eric Ferrara. Lower East Side Oral Histories documents the memories of twenty-five people from diverse backgrounds--Jewish, Italian, Chinese, Puerto Rican, Ukrainian, African-American, Muslim--who experienced life in one of the 20th century's most vibrant and complex neighborhoods. From childhood memories of pushcarts and nickel-baths to observations of the constantly changing face of the district, discover the Lower East Side through the eyes and voices of the people who have witnessed much of the history that made our neighborhood so legendary.
